Medical History

Posted on September 19, 2018

Today was a different type of day.  I was adopted at an early age and have never really known my biological father.  I have always been aware of who he was and even where he lived, but chose not to contact him.  Once my world changed, I decided I needed to know my biological family health history.  I wrote my father a letter and asked him to call me.   To be honest this was not a Hallmark movie moment.  It was very clinical to say the least, but I did learn about my history.  The good news is that there is no history of Pancreatic Cancer in my family.  In fact, there is very little history of any type of cancer in my family.  I believe I read a stat that 25% of Pancreatic Cancers are from family history, the other remaining occurrences are just bad genetic lottery luck.  Lucky me.
